Car Insurance Pontiac (Car Insurance). would it be better to rebuild the engine for a 08 Kawasaki brute force 750 or buy a new one?would it be better to rebuild the engine for a 08 Kawasaki brute force 750 or buy a new one? and how much do you think either of them would cost? No idea offhand how much a new engine would cost, but you can call a Kawasaki dealer and get a price from them. If I had to guess, I'd say around $2500 retail. You wore out a Kawasaki engine in less that 4 years, max? Why does it need to be rebuilt? What went wrong? Who says it needs to be rebuilt? And rebuilding consists of what? Too many people have an engine that has a simple problem, but automatically think it needs a complete rebuild. Neither - get a used engine on ebay. Auto parts : Distributor Cover Acura 1995 . Pontiac . Multifunction Switch Installation for 93 Mercury TracerThe multifunction switch on a 1993 Mercury Tracer controls the turn signals, hazard flashers and headlamps. Since all three systems route through the switch, if the switch fails, all three systems fail as well. The switch is located inside the Tracer's steering column. The turn signal lever, headlight control lever and hazard switch protrude from the steering column, through the trim cover. If you possess basic auto-repair experience and 20 minutes of free time, you can install a new multifunction switch in your 1993 Mercury Tracer. Difficulty:Moderately Challenging Instructions Things You'll Need Trim tool Phillips screwdriver Step by Step : 1 Pry the trim cover off the steering column using the trim tool in order to expose the multifunction switch. 2 Unplug the Tracer's wiring harness from the old multifunction switch. Remove the retaining screw from the switch with your Phillips screwdriver. 3 Remove the Tracer's old multifunction switch by hand. Insert the new multifunction switch in its place. 4 Install the retaining screw with your Phillips screwdriver. Plug the Tracer's wiring harness into the multifunction switch by hand. Snap the trim cover back onto the steering column by hand.
Pontiac . How to Replace a Turn Signal Switch on a 2000 Buick Century LTDThe 2000 Buick Century turn signal switch is located in the steering column. A turn signal lever protrudes from the side of the column, to allow you control of the turn signal system. By pushing the lever up or down, you can activate the left or right turn signal. Since a fully functioning turn signal is a necessity for safe and legal driving, if the switch malfunctions, you should replace it, as soon as possible. Anyone with basic auto-repair experience can replace a 2000 Buick Century turn signal switch in approximately 20 minutes. Difficulty:Moderately Challenging Instructions Things You'll Need Trim tool Phillips screwdriver Step by Step : 1 Pry the semi-circular trim cover off the top of the Century steering column, with your trim tool, to expose the turn signal switch. 2 Unplug the steering column wiring harness from the turn signal switch. Remove the retaining screw from the Century turn signal switch, with your Phillips screwdriver. 3 Replace the old turn signal switch with the new one, by hand. Thread the retaining screw into the new switch, and tighten it, with the Phillips screwdriver. 4 Plug the steering column wiring harness into the new turn signal switch, by hand. *Cars idle while they wait for stoplights to turn green.) The idle speed screw is easy to adjust and can do wonders for your engine performance and fuel consumption if it's set properly after you tune your ignition system. If you turn it clockwise with a screwdriver, your car idles faster; turn it counterclockwise, and your car idles more slowly. Chapter 13 has more detailed instructions. By turning this screw, you can determine how rich the fuel/air mixture is. If you adjust it properly, you can get maximum engine performance and still save fuel. A carburetor with more than one barrel can have more than one idle mixture screw. The screw (or screws) may reside in a variety of places, depending on your vehicle. Figures 6-3 and 6-7 show a couple of possible locations. You can identify an idle mixture screw by the fact that, if you turn it counterclockwise, the end of the screw comes out of the carburetor. However, because of state .Chapter 6: The Fuel System: The Heart and Lungs of Your Car and federal smog standards, most car manufacturers place limiter caps on the idle mixture screws or hide them behind metal plugs to prevent owners from adjusting them. If the idle mixture screw(s) on your vehicle are adjustable, you can find instructions for adjusting them in Chapter 13. The idle air bleed screw Some cars don't have an idle speed screw. Instead, they have an idle air bleed screw (or idle air adjusting screw, as it is sometimes called) that determines how much extra air is allowed to come in when the throttle is closed. When the throttle is closed during idling, some air should still come through to prevent the formation of carbon and gum deposits that tend to collect around the throttle area. By turning this screw clockwise, you can decrease the amount of air that gets in and slow down your idle. By turning it counterclockwise, you get more air and more idle speed. Air bleed screws are usually found on Lincolns, Cadillacs, and other big cars. Chapter 13 tells you how to adjust the idle air bleed screw. The idle stop solenoid Pontiac . Why do the headlights and dash lights flicker when adjusting the steering wheel?

Yugo GV. * Some newer vehicles not only have an idle speed screw and an idle mixture screw but have an idle stop solenoid as well. Cars with engines with controlled exhaust emissions tend to idle at faster speeds. Often, if such an engine is shut off abruptly, the engine simply can't stop fast enough and keeps going, or dieseling. The idle stop solenoid prevents the car from continuing to idle after you shut it off. More bang for your buck To increase the amount of fuel/air mixture thafs at high speeds or stress. You can see why V-8 passed along to the engine, auto manufacturers engines consume more fuel than most four- or have developed carburetors with more than one six-cylinder engines do. Of course, they put out carburetor barrel. A double-barrel carburetor more power, too. And if you like to drive a big, has two Venturis, and a four-barrel carburetor impressive vehicle around — or if you want to has four. You generally find these on large drive up hills at high speeds—that's the kind oi engines, like V-8s, where more fuel and air are engine you need. Just don't confuse powerw'tth needed fast to supply all those cylinders with efficiency. A smaller engine will do just as good stuff to feed on. In a four-barrel carburetor, two a job if it's not hauling a lot of extra junk around, of the four barrels are reserved for extra power 116 Part II: What Makes It Go? To see whether your vehicle has an idle stop solenoid, look for a little can-shaped device attached to the carburetor near the throttle. When it's time to tune your carburetor, read the instructions for adjusting the idle stop solenoid in Chapter 13. The intake and exhaust manifolds The fuel/air mixture travels past the throttle at the bottom of the carburetor to the intake manifold, a cluster of iron pipes usually found near the top of the engine, between the carburetor and the engine block. Another set of manifold pipes, called the exhaust manifold, carries carbon monoxide and other vapor wastes away from the engine for disposal. You usually find the exhaust manifold either lower down on the same side of the engine as the intake manifold or on the other side of the cylinder head. Figure 6-8 traces the fuel/air mixture's progress from the carburetor to the engine block. To pick up the trail from there, see "The Engine Block: Where the Fuel System and the Ignition System Meet" at the end of this chapter. Combustion chamber Pontiac . Unless it's run by electricity or another alternative fuel, it probably has a gasoline or diesel engine with a fuel injection system. (For information about diesel, electric, and other alternatively fueled engines, see Chapter 7.) Today, just about every new vehicle is fuel-injected. Although they're more expensive to service than carburetors, in recent years fuel injection systems with computerized electronic sensing devices have shown sufficient sensitivity, accuracy, and dependability to repay their cost with better performance, greater fuel economy, cleaner exhaust emissions, and more controllable power. Some of the newest models are reported to be 95 to 100 percent clean-burning! Innovations in design are constantly producing cheaper and more durable systems. ^ — ^^ At present, most fuel injection systems are too difficult to adjust or repair yourself, but if you know a bit about how they work, you can communicate with your technician more knowledgeably, saving yourself time and money.
